Births, Deaths and Marriages.

Well the marriage part is obvious, James and I are getting married yay!

Now onto the animals...

We got 4 lovely chickens in March.

Lemon

Honey

Soy

Satay

These are their digs!

Sadly, this morning I found Satay dead. Not sure what happened. I don't think she was set on by the other chooks. Soy has been sick and I've been giving her antibiotics and she has improved and seems good now. Satay was possible sneezing as well, I wasn't sure, but she was no where near as sick as Soy! We may never know.

Onto other less sad news... On Monday Elly had her entropian operated on. Hopefully it will help her and will mean that she won't have sore eyes all the time. Though it does mean a few weeks of irritation and pain :/ She is on pain killers, antibiotics and eye drops.

This was her when she got home...

She was so spaced out, I took a video to show that it wasn't just a one second thing!

She is MUCH better now!

On cat news... Basil is growing like a weed! This morning they were playing with the water coming out of the tap.

Stitching up Elly and Welcome Basil!

It's been a while...

Elly cut her paw open 2 weeks ago. It resulted in surgery. The following week the vet checked her paw and she'd busted open all her stitches. We then tried taping it closed and when it was checked on tuesday, it appears that it starting to heal, yay! So she will have to put up with being kept in the carport (to stop her and Bandit playing chasings in the backyard!) I can't even let her in the house, because she runs around following the cats!

Last Saturday we picked up our new addition, Basil!! He is a brown spotted Bengal.

Didn't take long for him to settle in

The afternoon, we picked him up, he had a nap with Dad

Since then, he's been making himself comfy,

Sometimes making himself scarce

He sleeps in our bed at night, by choice ;) The ginger boys accepted him within a day and they regularly are chasing each other, with the odd swipe to keep him in his place. Syd hasn't really minded at all. Lexi on the other hand, is being a diva. We spent 2 days having growing and hissing, when he was in the same room as her. We are now down to hissing when he's close. She will give him a swipe, but not with full force.

Here is Lexi's feelings on the matter!

Will update again soon, I promise! :)

Annoying younger brothers...

Bandit and Elly's relationship is very much that of older sister and younger brother. Bandit plays his part perfectly. He has the right mix of adorable and bloody annoying.

They also are good at the jealously thing. If we are cuddling one of them, the other can't have that and will weasle in, and then the other will weasle in again and this is repeated over and over. When this happens Bandit, in a mix of jealously an excitement, will bite Elly on the neck, or on the tail. Though I often see him following her around the yard holding her tail like an elephant. Most of the time she just ignores it, until she can't anymore, and then will bark or nip at him to stop. Apparently not hard enough, because he still does it, over and over ;)

We did it!

Sorry, I am a little late in posting this, but both Elly and Bandit passed obedience training with flying colours! The assessor said that they were both equal second best dogs in the assessment.

I was worried that Bandit was too full on kangaroo poo to actually pay attention to the treats in the assessment. But luckily he's a greedy big thing, so he still focused for the assessment. Every week when we get there he spends his time sniffing out and eating the poo that the kangaroos so kindly leave for him.

So next week, we start intermediate :)

BTW, apologies to those who have left comments, but for some reason when I try to comment it is sending me round in circles, so I will try again tonight!

Getting a good photo is hard!

I struggle to get a good picture of Bandit! Elly isn't so hard, she will at least sit still... and she gives me something to work with!

Cute Elly...

Mean Elly (ok actually she was yawning, but still)...

At least I got a couple of good profile shots of Bandit.

Obedience training practice

This Tuesday we will have our test for obedience training. Elly has been fantastic every week, following James going anything and everything he tells her. Bandit OTOH has been fantastic some weeks, and then other weeks where he has struggled to be able to sit. He gets very excited when he sees the other dogs and wants to play. Luckily last week for the practice run, he was perfect. Hopefully that doesn't mean that he bombs it this week in the actual assessment!

Here are some videos of them having a practice today!
