Kitties eating roses

What is it about our cats? They LOVE my roses! I planted a new rose bush and I cut off the 1 blooming flower and my bengal kitties try to eat it!

Also here is a cute picture of Bertie sleeping with his mouth partly open.

Cats, Dogs and sick chickens...

Here are the cats getting technical...

Here they are cleaning themselves....

Here is Bandit trying to look adorable...

On a sader note, Soy doesn't look well... We are going to try a few things before we have to make a tough decision.

Chooky chook!

Here are chooky videos...

In #4 you can hear Schnitzels little squeals at around 34 seconds... She normally does more, but today she was subdued. I will try to get another video of her doing it. Until then, here are some chicken antics...

Elly is home!!!

Elly had her cruciate repaired yesterday. We picked her up this afternoon and surprisingly she was walking ok, just slowly.

They said she was very good. The nurses said she was sitting with her giving her pats and she looked a bit sorry for herself, but when the vet brought her out to us she was very happy and walked up to the vet nurses for pats (someone was spoilt at the vets, I think!)

We also seem to have a third chicken laying! The next video will be on Schnitzel and her carry on when we take her food. She gets so excited!!

Elly and Bert

With Elly being inside until her cruciate operation this week, she's getting a lot of love from the kitties ;)

Here is my pictorial catch up!

Elly is having more surgery

Elly has done her cruciate and needs surgery! Never dull around here!

Here she is in her makeshift playpen with her little friends 😊

I've been neglectful again!

So, not a huge amount has happened... we have 1 chicken laying eggs! w00t! I will try to take a video of them eating food out of my hand (or should I say stealing! Two of them how try to peck at my hands regardless of if there is food!)

Ellys eyes have healed up nicely :)

Here she is showing them off...

Here is Bandit being, well... Bandit

This is what happens when Bandit and Elly play. She was chasing him around the yard (she was running her heart out and he was trotting hehehe.) I think she bit her tongue (hence the blood on her tongue.) It wasn't from him ;)

Bandit trying to look mean. EPIC Fail!

Finally, here is what we found when we went to fix the doona for bed...

New chicks

We got our 2 new chickens after the passing of Satay...

So introducing Drumstick (black with the red neck) and Schnitzel (the red one)!

They seem to be fitting in well and all the girls were huddled together this morning (it was pretty chilly!!!)

Schnitzel in particular is very soft, almost like fluid.

I tried to pick them up this afternoon, but they wouldn't let me. Hopefully when there are two of us in the coop we might have more luck!

Basil vs Ratty the toy

At IKEA today I got the cats a bundle of little toys and finger puppets.

James theory is that we need to train the cats to kill mice seeing as they were so lousy at it when he tried to get them to do it.

Apparently Basil is our only hope ;)

Lexi vs Plastic sleeve!

Our cats aren't that particularly plastic bag obsessed, but then given you have to pay for plastic bags here in the ACT, we don't really leave them lying around, they go in a cupboard to be reused. We mainly use the enviro bags.

What our cats DO love though, is plastic sleeves! Strange I know. But then they are all quite special.

Tonight was Lexi's turn... I had a sleeve sitting on the bed and she dived into it, literally. We often refer to her as Maru (if you haven't seen the Maru videos, you have to look them up on youtube!) as she does running dives into boxes. The other day she got the Soda Stream box stuck on her head ;)

So I got the camera ready and waited to see if she would give the plastic sleeve some love again. I didn't have to wait long...

Note: no cats or plastic sleeves were harmed in the making of this film.

Cat Burglar

So apparently we have a pick pocket in our midst!

He continues... yummy money!!!

Apparently Daddy's money isn't any good!

She was happily carried around for about 5 minutes LOL!

Hanging out...

This morning Basil was trying to share Elly's food, but her cone got in the way! Unfortunately I wasn't quick enough to get it on video! But then Bert decided the best way to share her food, was to get in her cone... Note Basil smooching up to Elly ;) That kitten has NO fear and will stand between her legs and share her food. He also will let her lick him.

Then G was getting ready to put her shoes on and Basil thought that was AWESOME!

Births, Deaths and Marriages.

Well the marriage part is obvious, James and I are getting married yay!

Now onto the animals...

We got 4 lovely chickens in March.

Lemon

Honey

Soy

Satay

These are their digs!

Sadly, this morning I found Satay dead. Not sure what happened. I don't think she was set on by the other chooks. Soy has been sick and I've been giving her antibiotics and she has improved and seems good now. Satay was possible sneezing as well, I wasn't sure, but she was no where near as sick as Soy! We may never know.

Onto other less sad news... On Monday Elly had her entropian operated on. Hopefully it will help her and will mean that she won't have sore eyes all the time. Though it does mean a few weeks of irritation and pain :/ She is on pain killers, antibiotics and eye drops.

This was her when she got home...

She was so spaced out, I took a video to show that it wasn't just a one second thing!

She is MUCH better now!

On cat news... Basil is growing like a weed! This morning they were playing with the water coming out of the tap.

Bed time snuggles

I've been watching telly in bed and Basil was curled up next to me and then he moved over to Bert...

Basil is all settled in!

Basil is all settled in and spends his time either chasing one of the big boys and tackling them, lion style, or snuggled up sleeping with Lexi. I won't natter on too long, as there are lots of pics and videos to see!

This is the new little family, Bert Lexi and Basil. Though normally Oscar mothers him and I suspect that Oscar and Lexi have a thing going...

Meanwhile, Syd thought it was all too much.

Later on, Lexi n Basil were taking a nap together...

Then just hanging out...

As Bert watched on...

Then Lexi had another snooze...

Basil joined her, again

Oscar found it all very tiresome...

Bert and Oscar were having a bath and Basil joined in!

Bandit and Basil spent some time hanging out together.

After that poor Bandit had his tail attacked and wasn't sure what to do LOL!

Stitching up Elly and Welcome Basil!

It's been a while...

Elly cut her paw open 2 weeks ago. It resulted in surgery. The following week the vet checked her paw and she'd busted open all her stitches. We then tried taping it closed and when it was checked on tuesday, it appears that it starting to heal, yay! So she will have to put up with being kept in the carport (to stop her and Bandit playing chasings in the backyard!) I can't even let her in the house, because she runs around following the cats!

Last Saturday we picked up our new addition, Basil!! He is a brown spotted Bengal.

Didn't take long for him to settle in

The afternoon, we picked him up, he had a nap with Dad

Since then, he's been making himself comfy,

Sometimes making himself scarce

He sleeps in our bed at night, by choice ;) The ginger boys accepted him within a day and they regularly are chasing each other, with the odd swipe to keep him in his place. Syd hasn't really minded at all. Lexi on the other hand, is being a diva. We spent 2 days having growing and hissing, when he was in the same room as her. We are now down to hissing when he's close. She will give him a swipe, but not with full force.

Here is Lexi's feelings on the matter!

Will update again soon, I promise! :)
